Norinco pistol quality?

As I understand the 1911 Norinco clone is a very good pistol especially for the price. But what I'd like to know is how good are the other Norinco clones such as the Sig 226 clone and the CZ75 clone (if the nz75 is a clone of that pistol)?

Can't tell you about the others, but my 1911 clone went over 200k confirmed. HELLUVA pistol. Loose and rattled like a junk truck. But would put all center mass at 15 yards. That's why I bought it. I cried the day the slide rail cracked.

A guy at my local range has one. He had some trigger work done to it and put some new grips on it. I think he paid about $400 for it new. I wish I'd bought it. The accuracy was incredible.

' Norinco making SIG P226 and CZ75 copies is news to me. Can you provide a link for additional information '

All I know is that a gun store here in Australia has this listed on its website (all prices of course in Aus$, halve the price for a U.S. amount) -

NORINCO COMPACT .45 $550.00 2 MAGS

NORINCO MODEL 1911A1 .9MM $695.00 15 SHOT

NORINCO MODEL 1911AI .45 $595.00 2 MAGS

NORINCO MODEL 226 SIG .9MM $595.00 15 SHOT

NORINCO MODEL NZ75 .9MM $525.00 15 SHOT

' A better question is why support communist Red China '

Have you ever noticed the number of products with a 'made in china' label/symbol? Besides if I bought one second hand then it wouldn't apply.

Maybe I should send them an email and find out what the deal is.

Don't know a thing about these "newer" Norinco guns, as they're no longer imported into the US. I have an older 1911A1 and its a fine gun, and was the basis for many gunsmith improvements. It shoots right with guns costing 5-6 times as much.

As for a 15 round 1911A1: no way. That would require a double-stack magazine, in which case its no longer a 1911A1, but something else.

"...here in Australia..."

Ahhh, now I understand. I was thinking Deadman was not in the US but wasn't sure.

.9mm is a pretty tiny round.:D

It's tiny, but not THAT tiny.

I've had a couple of 1911-style 9mms... the most recent being a Star Model B -- and a 15 rounder would have to stick out butt of the gun 3"-4"... In that case, the gun isn't a 15 rounder, they're just using a 15 round magazine.

For it to be anything but awkward, it would just about have to be a double-stack, like some of the Para-Ordinance or STI guns.

(I've got a Walther P-38, a Radom P-35, and just sold a SIG P-210-6; they all are single-stack 9mms, and their mags aren't that much shorter than a single-stack 7 or 8 round .45. I've got a couple of 17-round mags for my Browning Hi-Power and they're pretty darned WIDE!)

It might be possible to make a double-stack 9mm mag fit a .45 frame, but I'm still skeptical!

The quality of my custom Norinco is pretty good, and a friend has one that is almost box-stock and its a great gun, too.

The only Norinco "clone" I have is a Type 59 Makarov. It remains unfired in my collection, so I cannot comment on the function, other than it functions when dry firing. As to fit, and finish, it is rougher than it's Deutsch, and Slavic brothers, but acceptable. The design for the Makarov was standardised amongst most of the Warsaw Pact countries, with Hungary being the exception that comes to mind. China adapted it with Soviet blessings. If I were to fire it, I have no doubt that it would go BANG, just like my other ones. Just as a side note, the Type 59 is still issued to the Peoples Army, to the best of my knowledge. Which makes it a current issue military sidearm. The Mak is not dead!!!!

Re: ".9mm..."

Yeah, I saw that too, but took you seriously. (I hang out with a bunch of .45 acp freaks, and they say the same thing about 9mm.) <grin>

But I guess that would make for a HIGH cap mag, wouldn't it?
