Norinco owners . . .

How does your Norinco 1911A1 handle ammunition without having any feeding modifications done to it?

Mine has only had jams on handloaded semiwadcutters and I have had nothing done to it except using Wilson mags.

Hardball and Hydra Shoks work fine.

What type of jams with your hand loads? Is it a failure to feed?

My Norinco 213 (9mm) gobbles up my hand loads; although I are speaking of
FMJ and Hollow Points.

The Norinco 1911A1 I owned shot anything, though I never tried SWC's.
My impression is that some mags are optimized for those bullets.
I think Checkmate sells them. I used their hybrid lip mags, and they were great.

The Norincos are about as close to the original GI guns as you can get, and the GI guns were made to feed ball ammo. If they or the Norincos feed ammo with other bullet shapes without being worked on, fine and good, but there is no guarantee they will.

Even with guns that are made to feed a variety of ammo, we have to assume that someone will soon come along with a weird bullet shape they won't handle.

In that case, nothing to worry about. Keep on enjoying it.

If you get a chance and have the inclination, get a Norinco 213 since they are inexpensive to obtain. Folks just don't know how much fun they are to shoot and how skinny they are in your hand.

It would be nice to stumble across a Norinco 1911 at a low price or a nice dream to have anyway.

My Norinco seems to take any ammo I use including semi wad cutter, JHP, LRN, FMJ

one reason is probably because the throat on the Norinco is wider than on a standard GI barrel.
