Norinco ( chinese) 870 clones

General consensus from owners is: They are not up to American standards of fit or finish, but they make excellent shooters.

It's unknown how durable and long lasting they are.
As with all Chinese firearms, there's always some question about the quality of steel and heat treating for long term use.

Some Remington parts will interchange, and many accessories will fit.

Barrels WILL NOT interchange, and you have to take into consideration the different length of the magazine tube when buying a magazine extender.

Basically, a standard extender made to fit an 18" barreled Remington will stick out past the barrel of the Norinco by quite a bit.

In short, a good truck or HD gun, but nothing to show off to your buddies or pass down to the kids.

I really want one of those trenchguns, but the few responses I got about them on shotgunworld.com were not favorable. And for the life of me, I HATE CALIFORNIA! They run just short of 5 hundred at the local shop. Bull****.

Even if they were made extremely well, I couldn't bring myself to drop that much to the commies.:barf:

My question is, what is a reciculess low price? Lower than a used mossy 500, or 870? Please state the price for better advice:)

Leaving out the ethical and political factors of supporting the largest dictatorship left on the Earth.....

American gun makers have mastered the art of building reliable, durable repeating shotguns that cost less than a week's pay and last longer than we do.

Some are available used for less than $200. New, not that much more.

Solid design, well made of good steel, with warranties and factory service available here, not half a planet away.

The very first 870 that came off the assembly line in 1950 probably still is out there working right now.

Buy American....

Because of the low value of the NZ dollar, I can only give you a compartison by saying that they are a third of the price of an 870. I am actully giving up the idea. The smiling sales man said the had sold a lot, and had noone back- which is fine, but we would need to see if they still hung in there after 10,000 rds.

Norinco makes a replica of the m97 trenchbroom, and the 1897 regular aka riot setup.

Winchester m97

The Norinco 870 replicas are basically an 870 with a mossberg style magazine tube. I think it looks alot like the old Winchester model 12s. Especially if you throw an old style heat shield and the m97 bayonet style lugs on the front.

Winchester model 12 (mil-spec setup)

A buddy has some Chinese 870 clone he's trying to sell me for $175.

With friends like that, who needs enemies? :D

I told him for a bit more I can get a new Mossberg or Winchester 1300...

I have seen the Norinco 98's for about $399 NZD.

Reloaders is selling 18" 870's with a +2 ext for $675 NZD.

I forked out the extra money for the 870 because I wanted a gun I could trust.
