Norinco 59, help me decided what to do

OK, you read that I bought that chinese Norinco Model 59 Makarov for a great price (if you didn't, the post is still up down below). I wanted a shooter that I could customize and use for concealed carry. Now the Norinco is a shooter, no doubt. But it's currently in it's original chinese configuration, and the small area where it was scratched has been buffed out and reblued for the most part. I will get some more pics soon, but it is looking good. So do I put it up for sale and buy a Bulgarian (to send in for internal polishing, new sights and gunkote) or do I customize the Norinco 59 and ruin any collector value it has as one of the rarer Makarov's? I have no plans on ripping anyone off or making a HUGE profit, but I am a shooter and not a collector. If I sell or trade it I could make a collector very happy. If I customize and ruin it's collector value, then I would make everyone elses chinese Maks just a bit more valuable (in theory). I am actually leaning toward customizing and carrying it. Tell me what you think. Thanks.

Another for carry. I am a Makarov collector, so my priorities are different. I know Makarovs are cheap, but I wanted some kind of gun collection that was coherant, and they are becoming harder to find nowadays. Which is a good thing...for me!! :D

As a collectors peice you lost some value already by doing the repair and reblue. I would have been better to leave it original, even if it did have a scratch. Someone with a trained eye would be able to spot the touchup job.

I would just go ahead and have fun with the pistol and skip the modifications such as the Gunkote and Sights if you ever intend on selling this pistol, plus the modifications would cost you more than the intial price of the gun! You would definitely lose the cost of those modifications the resale value.

You can also do the internal polishing job yourself with little or no cost and have a good trigger.

The beauty of the Mak is that it is almost perfect as is from the box with few modifications. I did a trigger job and rounded the rear sight on mine and have something that performs better than many higher priced pistols that I have owned.

Good Shooting
