I already know the answer to this, but why is it that universities like Johns Hopkins and Boston University, funded by federal and state tax dollars, can participate in thinly veiled anti-gun political action?
For example, I get propaganda from an organization called "Join Together" which helps organize and sponsor the Million Moron March and "Firearms Safety and Consumer Protection Act" which would give even more power to ATF to control firearms manufacture in the US.
Here's a direct quote from one of their mailers:

quote:
Wouldn't the Second Amendment prohibit this kind of regulation? No, the Second Amendment would not prhibit this kind of regulation. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to guarantee the states' ability to maintain independent state militias that are available to be called upon if our country's security is threatened. The possession of firearms by individuals is not part of the right to keep and bear arms. Moreover, the Supreme Court has never struck down a gun control measure as unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. The federal government is clearly free to regulate the possession and transfer of firearms in order to promote public safety.[/quote]
To voice you displeasure, visit www.jointogether.com and send them a polite, but firm note on your view of their actions. Also, call the sponsors of the "Firearms Safety and Consumer Protection Act" at 202-387-6121.
