Non-Plastic 9mm Semi-Autos

Help me list all the good old-fashioned metal 9x19 pistols out there! Thinking of adding to the stable.

CZ
Beretta
Taurus (ick)
Sig?
Ruger
Modified 1911s

Walther P38/P1.

Recently a batch of surplus German army P1s have come on the market, made in the late 70s and 1980s. The ones that I've seen have been in almost new, never issued condition.

Among 1911s, Colt's has made its Government and Commander Models in 9mm. AFAIK the most recent production was a run of 9mm 1991A1 GMs about four years ago. Sweet-shooting pistols.

Sig's "Classic P series" vs. Sig Pro's

The Sig Classic "P" series pistols are definitely not made
of any composite material's. These are aluminum
framed weapons; which are among the best that are
available to American handguner's.

The Sig-Pro is a polymer framed weapon, and should
never be confused with the fine "Classic P series"
auto-loader's.

lonegunman,

Feeling mischievous, eh? ;)

Gotta agree with BD357, my PT99 is far from anything that could be considered by anyone as "ick". Give it another 5,000 rounds of flawless performance, and we'll see if it's "ick" or not.

As for steel framed autos, I would strongly recommend a Kahr K9 or K40 as a fine addition to anyone's collection.

$369.00 - nib cz 75 9mm luger w/1 15 round mag and one 10 round mag. i got this thing yesterday. it has the beefiest slide machine work i have ever seen and it's all steel. euro ammo, nato, ammo, +P, +P+-----------------bring it on.

the thing was stored for 5 years and not a spec of rust anywhere. beware, the slides are dry and i ended up dinging the rear of the slide with the frame as i yanked it off----------------no problem though, a birchwood casey matte black touch up pen cleaned it right up. It ain't pretty but it won't chip and i ain't into pretty anyway.

Browning Hi Power
CZ-75B
HK P7M8
Walther P-5
P-08 Luger

The Luger is more of a range gun than self defense as many do not feed HP ammo well. It was desinged for FMJ ball, but they are a classic 9MM and are FUN to shoot.

Are you a collector, or shooter? If you are a collector, the Browning HP and CZ are the most influential designs and would help show the evolution of modern 9mm's. The SIG P22x series and Beretta M92 series would follow.

For shooting, it depends on your budget as the more expensive pistols typically have better triggers and sight.

All things considered, the CZ may be the finest 9mm combat handgun known to mankind. It certainly is everything the Beretta 92 strives to be.
