Haven't seen a poll of this in the past 100 days, inquiring minds want to know. I suspect .40 will be the winner with .45 a close second. Not enough options to include 10 mm:(
And the .357/.357sig is an error I missed...need another cup of coffee.

Poll is intended for non LEO who carry with CCW permits.

I used to carry 40S&W religiously, but have been carrying 45ACP more often. It has nothing to do with the cartridge. I still favor 40S&W. It's just that I decided that I wanted to carry a SA 45ACP for a while. Kind of like when you get in a groove where you wanna carry a stainless instead of a blued gun. No real tactical reason.

Beretta 92, 15+1 of Gold Dot 124gr+Ps, plus a reload, or two, depending on where I am.

For me, with modern/quality loadings, the difference between 9/40/45 isn't great enough to warrant carrying fewer rounds in a larger caliber. I'd rather have more shots than a larger bullet. Just my 2 cents.

sorry to let you 10 mm fans out...patience...I'm new to this forum software lol

looks like I'm in a camp of 1911 fans:) which is fine with me

due to my job and heat down here my compromise for most bang for the buck in a lightweight concealable package that I can tote around all day was the Kahr P40 Covert. I keep a Para Ordnance P12 LDA .45 in the car so I am a fan of the .45...I wish I had waited until they came out with the single stack though. The LDA is fine:)

Big fan of single stacks in general and

1911s in particular. Therefore I chose to go with the .45s. Also, I've been tooled up for this caliber since my college days and had all that brass, components, etc. Why switch? After I become independently wealthy I will have copies of every handgun and caliber made:)

Lots of .45's in the posts, lots of vote for 9mm in the poll.

Why don't the 9mm carriers post? Fear of inadequacy?

I carry a 9mm Kel-Tek P-11. I'm confident in its performance. And its virtues are most apparent after about 10 hours of carry.

Yah, I know, a carry pistol is supposed to be "comforting, not comfortable". To me, its both.

Normally .38 Spl., 125-gr. Federal Nyclad +P loaded into an S&W 042.

I also carry 9mm with Federal Hydrashok, and .357 Mag., 125-gr. Golden Sabers.

.40 S&W 165 gr Golden Sabers, JHP of couse. I have a friend who was D.E.A and he recommended this, I assume its what they were issued, but I don't know that for sure. It works well on watermelons, so I assume that will cross over to other objects with similar consistency.:D

10mm added and voted for. ;)

(Although I carry .45 ACP, .32 ACP, and .44 Special frequently as well...)

I carry the Glock 26, or the Walther P99, or the Beretta 92FS, or the Walther P5, or the Ruger P95. Is that enough 9mm's for ya!!!

Glock 26: 17 rounds of concealed carry DEATH commin' at ya from outta nowhere!!!

THAT'S FIREPOWER BABY!!!!!!!!

:p :p :p

Of the calibers listed, I carry 9mm most often (Kahr).

Recognizing the slightly better "stopping power" (whatever that is) of the 40 S&W, I gave it a try. But in pistols I can carry, I found the 9mm so much easier for me to shoot well that I gave the nod to shot placement over stopping power and stuck with the 9mm.

Regarding the comment on 9mm voters not posting over fears of inadequacy-I don't worry about 9mm being too little. Among 9/357/40/10/45, the best caliber is the one I shoot best in a gun I'll carry. For me, that's 9mm. For somone that shoots a 45 they can carry comfortably better than another caliber, I think the right choice is 45, etc.

45 acp 230 gr hydrashocks. Seems to have good things said about it and it works reliably in anything I've used it in.

I didn't participate in your poll since my state doesn't issue CCW permits. I have a nice concealment rig for my SIG P228, however, and believe that might be my first choice.
