Non biased gun control studies...

Can someone lead me to some gun control studies that were done by non biased orgs.

I just had a debate with a gun ban proponent and well, it didn't go well. He told me there had never been an unbiased study whose finding were pro gun.

Can anyone help me with this? I am in the desert and our firewall out here is preventing me from searching like I need to to support my argument.

IIRC, when John Lott was researching "More Guns, Less Crime," he had set out to prove that crime increases when guns are prevalent. Of course we know how that turned out.

That said, I don't think there's any completely unbiased research on either side.

John Lott is what you're looking for.

Many try to tear him down personally, but no one so far has found fault with his research.

Sorry, but I don't believe they exist. If there are humans running the organization, then it is biased. Your best bet is to harvest some information from a source like the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports.

Violent crime rates per 100,000 people have dropped from 713.6 in 1994 to 465.5 in 2004. There is clear evidence that crime rates have been going down in the United States for more than 10 years.

Conversely, there is evidence that the incidence of gun ownership is going up in the United States during the same time period. Certainly the number of stated that have passed Shall-Issue Concealed Carry laws have increased. Try checking the ATF site or the NSSF site for more information.

By the way, be careful not to accept the terms of the argument from most gun control proponents. If you accept their premise, you accept their reasoning which is usually completely illogical.

Good luck. :)

somebody

recently posted the Brady grades for all the states (on THR maybe). Someone else did a correllation of those grades with levels of gun violence. There was a weak, not statistically significant association of higher Brady grades with gun violence.
Good luck.

I really need to get a government grant so I can type and submit what I will submit below:

World = Humans

Humans = Crime

Crime = will be done any possible way available at the time

Now:

Guns = Crime (by the anti's)

Guns = Ability to survive a crime

So lets take X (humans) and B (gun banns, they all disappear):

World + Humans + no guns = Still all the ills of the world and human nature, crime, murder, rapes, theft, will still continue. Only at a greater rate.

You might want to check out the Center for Disease Control and the National Accedomy of Scienced review on gun control/crime control studies.

Both CDC and NAS found all studies relating gun control to crime rate pro or con to be not valid. This includes the Lott Mustard study ( A dissenting opoin from NAS fest the LottMustard study was valid, the majority opinoin said no )

I repeat ALL the studies were found to be not valid, all the studies showing gun control increases crime, all the studies showing gun control decreases crime. This from CDC who had originally funded a number of the gun control studies.
