Nobody is safe from the MMM

From a message board for modelers. While this is only the thoughts of an individual member, it's a revealing insight as to the mindsets the MMM attracts.

Military Modelers next on MMM agenda
Tue May 16 23:08:20 2000

I'm a scout leader. At an informal gathering, a parent overheard me mentioning to other leaders that the local IPMS chapter I'm a member of had a "Make-n-Take" Snap-Tite event for kids at a local mall. I had suggested we link our pack and the club together for a repeat of this event.

I was questioned by this parent, who is a well known Million Mom March rabble rouser. She demanded to know if these were car kits, or if they were weapons of war.

I replied that they were indeed car kits, and she said that was good, because building model tanks and planes should be banned, especially for children.

She also doesn't approve of collectors (like me) owning real military vehicles.

Swell.

My boy is an aircraft modeler and a photographer of military aircraft. The officer at one base told him they had a couple of people complain about the Flying Tiger type jaws painted on the fighters' noses. Said they "looked too warlike".
What the Hell is this country coming too?

Well that is totally sick. But I'm glad you posted it :)

What this world is coming to is that we waited to long before getting angry. I equate it to a sink full of dishes. Sometimes we just drop them in the sink figuring we will get to them later. When it gets full we say "What is the problem? How come nobody rinses these things off?"

And just like the dirty dishes piled up in the sink, it harder to correct it than it would have been to do them one at a time.

Doc...

I mean this ... IMHO, a lot of this behavior looks a great deal like fascism to me, not just garden variety socialists. Many of these folks are absolutely intolerant of others - they are bigots, in every sense of the word.

When you see this kind of behavior, I think it is important to point this out to such people ... by not doing so, we are letting them believe that they have the power and the right to force others into their PC concept of correct behavior.

It used to be that a boy was taught to be a man and a warrior. Today boys are taught to be passive wussies. If they're raising kids like this, what is going to happen when we have to fight a war? Of course young men like me will be drafted and sent off to die to protect these snivel-liberals. But would they allow their own children to be sent? Of course not. Even if their snivel-spawn were sent what good will they be when they're afraid of the rifle they have to carry (you know a soldier is 43 times more likely to be killed by his own gun, than by an enemies)?

If I was that Scout leader, I would show up in one of my military vehicles at the next meeting and take the kids for a ride in it. I would also make a model of Rosie climbing the Empire state building with a doughnut in her hand and have tanks and planes with NRA logos on them attacking her to take to the next hobby show :)

You have GOT to be kidding? Arent those planes used for...oh.....what was that thing called again? Oh yea...WAR??????

We had a similar incident a few years ago at a library display of our models. A older genetlman complained about the naked woman on the side of a 1/48 scale B-17. The librarian, to her credit, told him that she understands his complaint but that the a/c model represented something historically accurrate and significant. The B-17 stayedon display.

Sounds like the old “better you than me” attitude. These people usually have someone else do the things they don’t like. God forbid they get their hands dirty. They might not look good enough.

OK fella's,

I'll top that.....got a call from my good friend that works as a "Mountain man" over at "WILD WEST CITY" in Netcong NJ.

Now, mind you WWC is one of those "LIVE" action cowboy towns ......you know 1880 Dodge City, skits, shootouts, stage coach robbery's...CanCan girls the like....you got the idea.

I know the owner well, and I often join his regular crew of actors as well as my good friend.
By lending a hand dressing as an 1880 character, and doing some trick shooting, fast draw, Knife and hawk throwing....the like.....plus when dressed properly.
I am the spittin' image of 'OLD YOSEMETE SAM' himself.

Anyway....My friend calls me up and says, that the show tommorow must be a "GUN LESS" one.
It seems that the organization that booked the facility for their large group(regular season..not open yet).
Insists on a "GUN LESS" show....they don't want to incourage the kids in likeing guns.!!!!!

Well I started sreaming about revisionist history.....and how I was going to show up with six guns a blazzin!

Needless to say I calmed down....and would not do anything to jeopordise the owners buisness.
He is a good friend and I beleive he himself must be furious, and seathing under his hide as I am.

NOW, this crap is going to far, when they start trying to re-write history.

"How the heck do you rob the stagecoach or the train ride, with all them people siting there without a dam six gun!"

WOLF

Wolf,
I suggest a law suit.
Have the lawyers file suit against the robbers of the stage, and then have the lawyers for the robbers counter sue claiming great emotional trama stemming from their disfuntional family life, and the stage owners disregard for their feelings by flaunting such an easy target in their face as an unprotected stage. In the final scene, the robbers can be seen spending their settlement on expensive cars and such.

Would a small scene of the stage driver's fatherless/motherless family be out of line? Yeah, that would be too fantastic to believe.
