For anybody that didn't read my random thoughts post over in general, I commented on a couple of recent articles in the Omaha Wierd Harold. Apparently last year, congress changed the rules on the supplying of surplus rifles to veterans groups, you know, the Springfields and M-1s the American Legion and V.F.W use to fire salutes at funerals and ceremonies. Since that time, there have been no rifles shipped because they didn't appropriate any money for the army to refurbish or repair the rifles, and the vets groups are not allowed to pay for it, or to have it done elsewhere. Approx. $1.2 million is needed for the program and nobody is willing to cough it up.
