No more Steyrs???

Onslaught

New member
Maybe I missed the big news, or maybe this is just a sales ploy, but my brand new CDNN catalog says:

"No More Steyrs To Be Imported!"

And they've got the Steyr M & S series pistols on sale...

Is this old news?

Steyrs

Onslaught

This news is about two to three weeks old. What has happened is the German Bank that held some paper on the land the Steyr plant sits on sold it to BMW who's plant is next door.

As Steyr also makes military weapons and rifles along with handguns I don't see BMW closing them down. Steyr is a big company and is diversified. If problems arrive over the sale of the land they may just move production to another location.

But then again they may be forced to close. Who knows?

I did read something somewhat recently about the fact the Styer
has been for sale now for over a year with no buyers.. This just might be the end. BMW has given them until the end of the year
then they must vacate th buildings.:(

This is from Steyr's site, posted 08/01.

But the $369.99 price for the M-series is tempting, and night sights are only $30 more.

Anyone have some experience with these?

I think the Steyr M40s at CDNN are a borderline scam.

The guns they sell for $369 come with only 1 magazine.

I'm sorry, but the darn thing left Steyr with 2 magazines...of course CDNN will be glad to sell you the second one for another $25 or so dollars.

Also, when I was looking for an M40 I called them because they had this $369.99 "special" and I asked how long the special lasted, the lady I talked to said it ended the coming weekend...that was a couple of months ago and they are still offered at that price. Additionaly, they kept claiming that Steyr wouldn't be shipping guns to the states any more, when I'd already talked to GSI and read on Steyr's www page that they were NOT going out of buisiness. Beware sales that never end (made me think of one of those furniture stores that are always having "going out of business sales")

There's a few M40s on Gunbroker.com (which is where I got mine) including a LE model with full capacity magazines. I paid $375 for mine, and it came with 2 magazines, plus the PO had the trigger job done, so it came with the gift certificate from Steyr (I send it in for a 3rd mag).

As for the M40 itself, I'm real happy with it. It seems to be slightly better built then a Glock (no unsupported chamber here) and puts the bullets pretty much where you point it :)

The ergonomics are excellent and for me it's more comfortable to shoot then the G23 owned by a friend of mine.
