No more Colts???

I was in a gun shop today and I noticed a sign saying that "Colt will discontinue sales of all of its firearms to the public, once their current inventory is gone." Is there any truth to this? If so, what is the reasoning behind this?
Thanks

Last I heard, Colt dropped a lot of their line to save money (like the pocketlite 9mm and .380, IIRC.) I also heard a rumor that they will get "back in the game" soon, from a dealer at a gun show.

Take that for what it means.

The story is that Colt just can't deal with the possable lawsuits some cities are threatening. Colt has been on very shakey financial ground for many years now. Colt is supposed to divide into four divisions in the hope of rebuilding. They will continue to make and sell AR-15s, 1911s and SAAs since these three guns are what have been keeping them afloat the last few years. However, everything else is on hold for an indefinate period.
Unfortunately, one entire division of the New Colt will be devoted to R&D of the "smart gun". This has many shooters and gun owners P.O.'d and calling Colt a sell out.
I consider Colt just the same as S&W. I'd be happy to buy a good used one, but there will be no new ones added to my collection.

Since light travels faster than sound, isn't it logical that some people appear bright until you hear them speak?

I have had suspicions about Colt for awhile now....
Another Sell-out?????
I have 2 1991A1 Colts new in the box and rent glocks and colts at my local range..
Have not shot my 1911's because I don't have to..
John Moses Browning must be about ready to roll over in his grave by now......
Glad I got my 2 Colts when I did, and what vintage 1911's they are..
alas.. I still have my German Pistoles to shoot..

Actually, the "smart gun" nonsense will be researched at an independant spinoff company called (get this) iColt. Is that not just a high tech name? The company was spun off last year and is still tiny, just some R&D types and a retired U.S. Army General CEO to shill for investment capital outside of the government "smart gun" grant that we, the taxpayers, have already ponied up for...
