No more civilian Colt ARs/sporters....

I heard from someone I trust today taht Colt is *this close* to voluntarily stopping production of their AR/Sporter Line for sale to Civilians.

I have heard rumors of a military contract that would keep Colt from have time to manufcature civi ARs in the past, but this is apparently some new, completely political situation...

What do you guys hear ??

Heard the rumor somewhere and checked with my local gun dealers, they havn't heard anything from Colt or anyone else saying that Colt was going to stop selling to the general public. Best to buy a BUSHMASTER a lot better than Colt IMHO. ;)
 
There's been a lot of noise about it on the AR15 bulletin board. People with a line to Colt say it's BS. Can't say for sure myself.

Sure would make my HBAR more valuable!

have heard the same thing along with Colt not doing so well financially - to the point where some manufacturing has slowed/stopped. Time for another buyout? I also have to agree w/ Buchwacker, buy a Bushmaster. Much bettr quality and they're only a few miles up the street from me. :-)
 
I heard initially that colt was considering stopping the sale..........I checked a little further and apparently what went on was that colt they were considering that and they recently acquired a military contract....Im not sure why they were considering it to begin with unless they were like always short of cash and near bankruptcy..........bushmasters...rule....fubsy.
 
This came from a Colt Source.

while the military Contract story has been around for awhile, this one related to some sneaky back door deal to voluntarily stop production and then endsorse a domestic assualt rifle ban.

Spoke w/ my local dealer yesterday on this matter. From what he has eard, Colt is having financial difficuties and has decided it to be financially beneficial to stop prodction (civilian at least) of their "sporter' line. Believable since they lost a great deal of the market as well as past military contracts to Bushmaster.
 
Colt vs bushmaster

Thanks for the advice to go to a Bushmaster, however I will stick with my Colts. Colts are 100% Colt made (minus the springs and screws). Bushmaster is an asembly plant that uses everybody elses sub bin A parts. I much prefer to know exactly whos making my parts. USA made and quality is unmatched. Enjoy your Bushmaster, whomevers parts are on it.
