Got a carry frame for my 320 full size.
I have seen a few pics of people doing this, either cutting the full size frame down, or purchasing a frame from Sig.
The results have been hit and miss for the people buying carry/compact frames from Sig.
From looking at pictures, I am getting the feeling that there are two different full size slides out there. Some may be from an early run, or came with conversion kits.
Either way, more material is removed on some slides, leaving a gap between the dust cover of the frame and the slide. Results are less than ideal in that situation, as the recoil spring assembly is exposed and visible.
A measurement on my 320 said I was good, so I picked one up. I was hoping it would be the newest style frame. (as I was told it should be by the Sig rep) Unfortunately that was not the case, its not a big deal, but there are benefits to the new frame.
The new frame has a larger protective ridge around the slide stop. It is also farther forward, to accommodate the newest style slide stop lever. The new lever extends forward rather than to the rear that the original did, and its lower profile and closer to the frame. Result is a slide stop that is harder to actuate under recoil or in a manner to prevent lockback.
Would have been nice to have, as it even includes the new slide stop lever in the box.
I chose the ODG color, as it was different enough from the black to provide some contrast, but was dark enough to not be in your face. It provides some interest to the pistol without being garish... I have plenty of solid black pistols, a little color is a good thing.
Also, I went with the small grip version, and it does feel very nice. Should make an even smooth straight pull of the trigger easier to do. My fiance would have issues with the 320, and this should help.
Here is a pic of it. Looks good with no gap exposing some of the recoil spring assembly.
