No Concealed Weapons posting (SC)

If a sign is posted on the door of an office inside of a building that is not posted, but is legal to carry in, is that posting legally binding? There is only one door into the office and it is posted there. My boss put it up as a joke, however, I wondered if it could be considered legally binding.

I haven't read relevant code but it was explained to me that the proper signage had to be posted on all entrances to public facilities. Example cited was that of a mall. A posting on a door does not constitute opt out because the CCH carrier could potentially enter an unmarked door and would therefore not be aware the facility had opted out. As explained to me all public access doors must be marked.

That is what I was told by a knowledgeable individual. Relevant code is what to believe.

There is a trick in the SC code that the sign must be absolutely compliant with the standard specified in the statute. Such a sign is almost impossible to create, certainly not by any amateur. Furthermore, there is no standard, language-neutral symbol for prohibition of firearms. The one you see at a post office is not per any standard. Some sign maker made it up. Lawmakers apparently assumed there as such a symbol, because it is referenced but not pictured in the sign specification section.

Don't be too concerned about signs in SC, but a sublessee's office door inside a larger building is his to control, barring any lease condition to the contrary.
