probably only can buy from there pre-approve California Legal handgun section. if it's a Cali legal gun, I am sure if you contacted them and corrected their mistake, they would get on it. if I was a retailer, I would take the 10% loss of consumers and not sell to Cali period, can't blame them for being too careful

You probably were looking at their used Smith model 10 4" models.
You can only buy their new one:

Here you go:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/1153_1796/products_id/61704

It's under their California approved handgun list.

Yes, it is on the list:
10-14 (Wood Grip) SKU 150786 / Steel

The list is model specific, so it must be the 10-14 only.
Firearms not on list can be transferred private party face to face.

If it's a new M-10 it should be on the DOJ approved list. As I understand firearms have to be retested and older models can "fall off" the DOJ approved list. One more way to limit private firearm ownership by our elected reps.

As someone else suggested if I were an online firearm seller, I'm not sure I would want to the extra effort to sell and ship firearms to what was once the "Golden State," just to much hassle.

In order for an FFL to sell to CA, he has to register with the CA Dept of Justice, which is about as hard as registering with this forum. Then for each transaction he has to get a verification letter, which is about as hard as posting on this forum.

A PITA perhaps, but not so much as to justify cutting yourself off from a major firearms market. Private parties just ship to the CA FFL, although it would be wise to confirm the shipment with the FFL first.

That said, the CA handgun registry is a classic example of bureaucracy run amuck. How in the heck can a gun be "safe" one day and "unsafe" the next?

Here in MASS, another very un-gunfriendly state, Ruger did the opposite. When the Attorney General issued his draconian laws about handgun ownership a bunch of years ago, most of the major manufactures such as Colt wrote off all handgun sales in MASS. Not Ruger. They challenged him, stating that the Vaquero and Blackhawk were perfectly safe, and furthermore they would financially support any FFL that the state tried to prosecute for selling 'unsafe' firearms. The AG backed down and we can now buy Rugers in MASS, while we cannot buy Colts. THAT is a manufacturer going the extra mile and supporting their customers. I will forever be a big fan of Ruger for that.

The answer is simple. Do what I did and move from that socialist paradise to a free state.

Good for you. But that is a very smug statement. Sometimes it is not possible to move to another state, for various reasons. Some of us are stuck in un-gunfriendly states and cannot just pack up and move somewhere else.

It is ALWAYS possible to move to another state, unless you are under some legal restraint (parole, probations etc.,).

what is it not, is always practical or easy. Simple? yes. Easy? maybe not so much. All depends on what you have to leave, and how important that is to you.

Friends, family, job, property you own, and other things all must be weighted and balanced against your freedom of choice and free(er) exercise of your rights.

Its not a matter of you can't, its a matter of you choose not to, because the cost isn't worth the benefits to you.

I do agree the posts that say "easy! Move!" are smug sounding, but they don't irritate me as much as the ones who say "its bad, send it to me and I will dispose of it!!" or something similar.
