Kinda skimpy, but I love that terse sentence, "She fired a handgun at him, and he died," Callihan said." I guess they don't talk much in New Mexico. :)

Woman Kills Stalker In Her Home

Journal staff report

A woman shot and killed a stalker who entered her home, police said Saturday.

The shooting occurred at 10:30 p.m. Friday as Timothy O'Hea, 43, broke into the woman's residence in northwest Albuquerque, Lt. Michael Callihan said.

"The man had been stalking her for several weeks," Callihan said. The two had known each other and were "ex-boyfriend-girlfriend," he said.

"She fired a handgun at him, and he died," Callihan said.

The woman, Terrill Space, 51, was not charged with any crime.

"Based on the information we have at this time, it appears to be a self-defense issue," Callihan said, adding that Space had "been working with law enforcement and seeking some assistance and protection from Mr. O'Hea" before the shooting.

He said the district attorney's office would ultimately determine whether any charges would be filed.

"She fired a handgun at him, and he died." Callihan sure covered a lot of ground in 9 words. He must drive defense attornies nuts when he is on the stand.

Anyway, Ms. Space proved once again that the best restraining order moves out a around 850 fps or faster.

He breaks into a womans' home and she shoots him dead. Atta girl!!
That's what my wife would do. My wife can shoot a snub-nose .38 better than I EVER could. At 75 yards, she keeps every shot in the chest area of the target. (I carry a jack to lift my lower jaw back up off the floor.) I'm very happy about her shooting! (And quite proud.)

I wrote a letter to the editor in a different vein, and completely forgot that NM
does not issue CCWs. They do have a "carry loaded if visible" law like AZ though.

What hit me after I pressed the "Send" button was the fact that if Ms. Space had been accosted in a parking lot, alley, or anywhere outside instead of at home, the police might have drawn a chalk outline around her instead of O'Hea. All because some NM politicians don't trust the armed citizen.

I still don't like that "the DA wil decide" remark, as if the DA can just decide weather she's a criminal or not for defending herself.
