SABRIN DENOUNCES BILL TO EXPAND IRS

Totowa, NJ – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Murray Sabrin today denounced a Senate bill sponsored by Jack Reed (D-RI) that will expand the Internal Revenue Service by requiring it to register and tax all handguns.

“Here is another example of how liberal politicians capitalize on human tragedies to advance their radical leftist agendas,” Sabrin said. “It is outrageous to think that a U.S. Senator would suggest that the IRS, of all agencies, monitor and tax the personal property of law-abiding citizens.”

The bill, entitled the Handgun Safety and Registration Act of 2000, would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to require the registration of handguns. Such initiatives have been undertaken in Great Britain and Australia and both have led to the confiscation of all handguns.

“It is obvious that the goal of this bill is to is not to end gun violence but to infringe on the private property rights of the American people,” Sabrin said. “As a U.S. Senator I will fight tirelessly to protect our Constitutional rights from being chipped away at by the liberal elite in Washington.”

Murray Sabrin has been endorsed by the New Jersey affiliate of the NRA and has made Second Amendment rights an issue in his campaign for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
