NJ - FFL's few & far between - Who's got the best prices ???

Calling around I just got a difference of $40 in quote on a $300 piece ! That's a big swing.

And the higher price is from a dealer who just scored a $1 million + contract to supply all NJ state troopers with X&Y .40's.

Looking for a Ruger P95, anybody know who's got the best prices out here in the gulags ?

Many, many years ago there was a place called "Guns Unlimited" in Union that was the absolute best. The owner lost his FFL and had to close up. Rumor had it that eventually got his FFL back and re-opened in another location. If that's true, he would be my first choice. Other than that, I would have to go with Ray's on US22.

Thanks guys...for nothing :D

Ray's is the dealer that just won the big State S&W contract, and has the highest prices around for everything. Unfortunately they seem to be the only game in town for a lot of stuff (like the range). You can still get ammo at Sprts Authority or KMart, but nothing stronger than a Daisy or paintball.

In this example, Ray's quotes $349 on a P95, a place in Jersey City says $309. That's a 13% increase! I'm still not sure the $309 is the best price, but I'm willling to make the drive to save $40 (that's 3 boxes of ammo !).

PS: JC Armory is a MAK distributor, not a retailer. Even in state I would need to transfer from there. And unless a deceased relative was giving me something for nothing, an out-of-state transfer to NJ would likely not be woth the hassle.

This might be a bad example because it has to do with S&W and if they're such a big distributor of S&W, they might be able to offer price breaks on them BUT ...

I moved out of NJ about a year and a half ago. Before moving I was thinking about getting a S&W3913 but I ended up moving before the paperwork ever came through (gotta love NJ and their Handgun Purchase Permits ). Ray's gave me a quote of around $560. Efengers (not sure how to spell it but it's that place in Somerville/Bridgewater on NJ28 on the west side of the road) wanted about $640 for the same gun and when I actually bought it down here in FL, I paid about $610 for it (maybe I got ripped off and could have got it even cheaper -- I don't know but I did try a few places and $610 was about the best price going).

So to me, looking at these numbers, Rays seemed to have the best prices in NJ and they seemed to be a pretty good bargin when compared to a few places down here as well. Again, this might not be a good comparison because they might have lower prices on S&W's and higher prices on the other brands because they are actually a national authorized S&W repair center. So, if your S&W ever breaks, you can save yourself about a hundred dollars in shipping & insurance expenses and just drive it over to them.

Just my $0.02 worth of this. FUD.

Ramsey Outdoor has good prices on some items. But they seem to have an attitude also. I`ve noticed this in the Paramus and Mahwah stores. Don`t know about the Ledgewood store.

My wife said either I stop buying shooting stuff or she`ll leave me.

Boy, I`m sure gonna miss her!
