The channel 7 news, reported that the victim in this case is going to or has been charged with pointing a gun at the carjacker even though their one year old was in the car. More to come though, as I only caught this in passing on the 5pm news, so I could be mistaken in what I heard.

I could NOT imagine how anyone could think this guy should be charged even if he would have shot the carjackers while trying to take a car with their one year old STILL in car. I most certainly think that qualifies as a serious threat of death and/or serious bodily injury to their child... Then again this is from PRNJ, where free-thought and any form of self-defence is against the law. :barf:

I don't see anything in that article that says the victim is being charged with anything, it doesn't mention the involvment of a gun, or how it all happened, where is your additional info from?

additional info was from the news report on channel 7 @ 5pm.. There was no further info in later reports. I caught the first one in passing, as I said I could have been wrong about what they said

This isn't about the PRNJ. It's about the left wing socialist liberal political philosophy. And most of all, Government control over the people so the Govt. has the power and individuals who assume responsibility for their own safety are a liability. Dependence on Government is the rule. There isn't one iota of difference in thinking whether it's Canada, Australia, Great Britain, South Africa, Kalifornia, or New Jersey. Look at their Governments.

Hero husband beats gunman
By MATTHEW SCHULZ

A MILK bar owner (Ed: small 'Mom and Pop-type convenience/deli store) risked his life to save his wife when a rifle-wielding bandit stormed his shop.

Michael Walker, 53, said as soon as he saw the gun pointed at his wife, Cheryl, he just "went ballistic".

"It happened in a split second. I just took him down," Mr Walker said.

The gutsy shopkeeper from the Geelong suburb of Herne Hill said he would not hesitate to do it all again for the woman he loved.

The gunman burst into the shop on Friday night while Mrs Walker, 45, was behind the counter.

Instead of handing over cash as the robber demanded, Mr Walker tackled the assailant and snatched his sawn-off .22-calibre rifle.

Mr Walker last night said his instincts took over when the man levelled the gun at Mrs Walker.

He charged the attacker and threw him to the ground. Mr Walker gained the upper hand in the ensuing struggle.

Mrs Walker called police and for more than 10 minutes Mr Walker pinned the assailant to the floor as the couple waited for police to arrive.

But Mr Walker said he was no hero.

"Are you married? Have you got a girlfriend? If someone pointed a gun up her nose, what would you do?" he asked.

"I just reckon it's just something anyone would do at anytime.

"Either way, thank Christ it turned out the way it did."

Sen-Constable Wayne Wilson said people should consider the risks in tackling such threats.

"In circumstances where you're threatened by an armed offender you must weigh up the consequences of your actions and make the decision," he said.

"We can't encourage people to do this.

"Saying that, you have a right to defend yourself and use reasonable force, but your actions may have to be accounted for in court later."

Geelong detectives have charged a man with a string of armed robberies.

A man, 29, from the Geelong suburb of Bell Post Hill, appeared in an out-of-sessions hearing last night.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Geelong Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
