Nite sites for Walther P99

JMC

For anyone here owning a Walther P99 and having need of nite sites for their gun...
I just received a set from Earl's Repair Service, Inc. in MA.

I have to say that they are of the highest quality that one could expect and, are made of steel.

Earl advised me that he makes the sights himself and uses Trijicon inserts. They are adjustable like the factory sights.

At $125.00 per set they are not cheap but I think the quality is well worth the price.

JMC which version did you get? I saw a Gen. 1 and Gen. 2 listed. The Gen. 2 is the more tapered pyramid rear, kind of like a Novak sight.

Is changing them a do it yourself proposition? I know the factory fronts are easy to change. I have never had to mess with the rears yet.

The sights from Earl's look exactly like the Trijicon sights I put on my P99. To install you just use the windage screw to push the rear sight out of the dovetail, then use the windage screw to pull the new sight into the dovetail. I only paid around $90 for my Trijicons.

WaltherP99man,

I bought the newer model.
If you want, I could e-mail you pics of them on my P99.

Are they identical to the factory sights? When mine was new I screwed up and put some Mepro's on it. I hated those sights. Too much space in the sight picture. The sights I have now are better but not as nice as the factory sights.

Are they identical to the factory sights?

No, the factory are plastic, Earl's are steel and they site a tad higher.

All you need to do to remove/install the rear sight is, depress the rear sight screw plunger, push the sight from right to left, looking at it from the rear of the slide, push the new sight on from left to right, allow screw head to seat in plunger. Done.

Mine was a little tight so I had to use a brass drift/2 oz. hammer, a little lube and tap it in and then move it back and forth to wear down the high spots on the sight. I think my dove tail was a little tight but this is ok.
