Nikon Buckmaster scope

I bought a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 scope over the weekend. I took it out to sight it in and noticed that it gave me a very blurry sight picture. The lenses were clean, the eyepiece was adjusted properly, couldnt figure it out. I brought it back and exchanged it for a Leupold Vari X II 3x9. I thought Nikon had a better reputation than that. Anybody have a similar experience, or did I just happen to get a lemon.

CD1, The Buckmaster is the low end scope for Nikon and they've had some problems. Should have corrected them by now. Maybe they haven't or you just got one of the older ones that never sold. When I went to buy one last year, my dealer not only told me about it and discouraged me from buying one, he sold me a Monarch for the same price as the Buckmaster. Nikons are normally very good. But, I don't think you'll be disappointed with your Leupold. Good buy.

I have the same Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 40mm scope. I looked long and hard between the Leupold and the Nikon. I could see no diffrence. It must have been a fluke.

It looks like the Nikon Buckmaster are the Var XII equivilant of the Nikon line. They are a little cheaper then the Monarch but don't have multi-coated optics, etc.
