Nighthawk 1911 ID help

At work a customer came in with a Nighthawk 1911 and wanted to sell it. I looked the gun over and it is a nighthawk frame and barrel but the slide has no markings what so ever.
Looking on the internet I have found several pictures of Nighthawks but every one I looked at had some kind of markings on the slide. The slide matches the blueing and color of the frame.

At this time I cannot ID the gun to make a offer. My fear is that the slide may have been replaced at some point. It has a Trijicon front sight but the rear sight is just plan black and not adjustable.

Any one a idea what I am looking at?

Only way to be sure.
But a lot of people apply reverse snobbism and order guns without logos.

Sorry, poly, there is no requirement that the slide be marked. The maker's name is on the receiver, per regulation.
 
I took a close look at the frame markings,and they appeared to have been somehow erased,seeing as the frame and the slide finish match I reckoned that
surface work had altered the serial number hence my comment.
 
Looks to me like the frame carries a maker's name, location, and serial number. I don't see anything illegal about it.

Nighthawk should have a record of the serial number, and what model pistol it was when it left their shop.

Rubbish! A slide needs no markings to be legal, it is the frame which needs to be serialized.

It has been somewhat popular in recent years to order 1911s with a "naked slide" from shops like Wilson, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, and even Les Baer. Some just like a clean look and the manufacturers are glad to do it --- for an additional cost.

I can't tell by looking at it if that is a Wilson slide or not, but it probably is. Wilson may be willing to tell you but there may or may not be a research fee involved. Did the owner have a "build sheet?" On a couple that I ordered with custom modifications, the mods were listed and priced by the manufacturer (Brown and Nighthawk).
 
Nighthawk being a custom shop,would probably do anything you ask them to do for the price they may ask you to pay.My point was that the serial number and other marks on the frame based on the picture look faded out if that is not the case then OP can indicate that they are not and all's well.
