NIght vision recommendations?

I just ordered th ATN Black Lion 390 riflescope from Cabela's - on backorder - seems to have gotten best reviews, and is or was on sale. I want it to scout for deer and for yotes. Check your state laws on usage though.

Anything a bit cheaper? For airguns? Sorry tools for posting a question on your thread, didn't want to make another one identical to yours.

I use an ATN 6900 Crusader Gen2+ fixed 5 power. It's good for varmints out to 100-120 yards full moon w/ no clouds.

yea, I purchased a $300 monocular online...

its a worthless piece of junk...its a 1st gen. nightvision.

Its cool to use in my backyard at night...but you cant see ANYTHING past 30yards.

not worth it...get the 2nd or if you are rich, 3rd gen.

It probably isn't a piece of junk, but needs an IR illuminator. While hunting hogs at night from the stand, I can watch deer out to 60 yards (the length of my clearing's edge from my stand) using a 15 year old Gen 1 Russian made Zenit monocular with its little IR illuminator. When the unit's IR illuminator is supplemented with a second one, the clarity of the images increases significantly.

A lot depends what you want to use it for - and you get what you pay for. Alot of the Gen1 stuff is worthless for long range viewing/varmints. For short range (your back yard)might be sufficient. i would say invest in at least gen1+ or 2 for game viewing/varmints. The Black Lion has good reviews for a Gen1+, not as expensive(was on sale for under$500)and can be mounted on a rifle.
