I would get rid on those black on black sights and get white dot sights at least. If you get night sights there are a few to choose from. I would recommend Trijicon's or Meprolights. The Trijicon's are a bit brighter in my opinion, but smaller sight picture and more expensive. The Meprolights are bigger dots, have nice white rings for day shooting, and less expensive, and I believe have a better warrantee than the Trijicon's. I have Meprolights on my HK USP and I love them. I spent $69 installed, but they were a change out of the stock sights. I have no problem with their brightness and I no if I have any problems with them they will take them back and replace them for free due to the nice warrantee. You can also get Novak sights and install tritium sites into them (I am not sure if they come in night sights but I am sure they do). Novaks are probably the best combat sights out there. If you need pistol smithing I am sure different gunsmiths will charge different prices. I got Novaks installed on my 1911 for $180, I believe, but that was a number of years ago and that included refinishing the gun. Might be higher now. Good luck.
