About 8 months ago i purchased a standard government model springfield 1911 with nothing fancy, just fixed sights and rosewood handles. I recently decided that i wanted to replace my fixed sights with some trijicon night sights but i dont know if i can since the factory sights are fixed. From the outside looking in, it seems to me that in order to get the adjustable night sights to work ill either have to get the slide "machined" to where the sights will fit or ill have to get a new slide with a "pre-machined" sight support. I would appreciate any helpful info with this because this gun is my pride and joy!
