Night Sight Installation Questions

I plan on installing two sets of Meps, one on an HK USPf and the other on a SIG P226. Mep's directions call for using Loctite 609 and for ensuring that the sights fit the dovetail recesses by filing the bases as needed. If not enough material is removed, and the sights are drifted into place harder than they should be, is there enough contact area for the cement to set up? Should the sight bases be filed sufficient for the sight to slide fully through before being cemented? Finally, at the time of their eventual removal, will heating the sight with a soldering iron to warm the glue for removal of the sight damage the temper of the slide?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Pojim, the idea here is to get the bases to go about 3/4 the way on their own. Then when you add your locktite and drift them the rest of the way in there will be plenty glue to set up and hold. And no, a soldering gun is not hot enough to effect the temper of the slide. George
