First time poster so sorry if this is in wrong area,

I went to a pawnshop today to purchase a beautiful s&w sigma 40 looked brand new.
Anyway on to my question I have purchased handguns and such before and always got an immediate proceed, today was different as I was delayed it is really unnerving since I need this weapon for my up comming trip across the country anyway I am wondering if my delay could be attributed to my recent acquisition of a Twic card "transportation worker id creditential" you have to go thru a fbi background to get it so I am wondering if that new security clearance that comes along with the id card is what is delaying me walking out with my purchase

Doesn't seem likely. Did you provide your SSN? That seems to be the surest way to avoid a delay.

Yes I provided my ssn# the delay may also be from I have a pending misdemeanor case, nothing that would think bring on a denied I hope but that could be why I was delayed real shame either way

Has nothing to do with an FBI NICS "Delay".

Security "clearances" get absolutely no preferential treatment from the FBI NICS.

...I have a pending misdemeanor case...
Bingo!
It is quite possible that your NICS check comes back as "Denied". My first "Denied" customer was fighting a 1st offense DWI....a misdemeanor in Texas. Until there is a disposition in your case they may not return a "Proceed".

everything i have read about misemeanors and the such all say that the only ones that will affect the outcome are violent offenses and domestic stuff... nothing about anything else.... but i sure hope you are wrong in your thought lol i want my new weapon!!!

also i have read that as long as the charge doesnt carry more then 1year of imprisonment it should be ok.. seeing as no misdemeanor in Tx carries more then 1year it should be ok... i have been all over the net and town asking questions trying to get some insight...also the only "pending" misdemeanor that can stop me is any kindof domestic violence or violent crimes which my misd. is not

A TWIC card isn't a security clearance. It's a background check by the Department of Homeland Security via the FBI for the Coast Guard by Lockheed-Martin. Basically a TWIC card clears you for access to facilities that have docks with access to navitiable waters.

It will probably come back OK. It may have to do with the recent background check. I had several customers that had clearance to haul hazardous material
tell me they were always delayed. There is a special ID number available from the FBI you can apply for if it becomes a problem. In Texas having a CHL eliminates the background check requirement.
