I got my PC9 a couple of weeks ago...It's effin' cool. It's my first carbine/rifle and I was very impressed with it. When I was buying, I was completely torn between the PC9 and the Mini-14. Well, my Bro bought the Mini-14. We went out and shot them both, and I have to say, after shooting both, I still wouldn't be able to decide. The PC9 was a bit more "home defense" oriented, which I liked, and ended up being the reason I was glad I bought the PC9. But the Mini-14 was a sweet little number. Next gun, Mini-Thirty? Hmm...

I've had mine for a while now, its a fun little gun. I'm very pleased with the accuracy. I dont like the dissasembly procedure though. It's kind of a pain in the butt. Reassembly is more of a pain in the butt. Once you get used to it, it's not all that bad though. I also am not crazy about the weight. It's a bit heavy for what it is in my opinion. (allthough....I took mine to the range the other day for the first time since I bought my Remington 700 Police and now it feels surprisingly light :D ) Overall I like it though, and its a heck of alot cheaper to shoot than my bolt gun.

Here are some past posts on the subject:

Good luck with it!

I thought that the PC9 & PC40 were a bit heavy and considering that they're blowback, it's not surprising. Too bad Ruger didn't use a delayed blowback like the Calicos did. They would have saved a lot of weight, material and came out with a ligher carbine.

Welcome to the world of Ruger Semi-automatic Rifles. :D I would have bought a PC9/PC4, but I wanted the ability of firing a round that would punch Kevlar. 223 Rem and 7.62x39mm both fit the bill. I chose the Mini 14. If you are considering a Mini 30, consider that it will be much more difficult to find high-capacity mags than it is to find them for the Mini 14. Also, as far as your PC9 goes, try and snag some pre-ban pistol mags so you can have a 15+1 round carbine. :) Other than that, congrats on your new purchase.

Kinda begs the question...

As to why one plans on ventilating Kevlar, and broadcasting it to the world on a forum visited by all walks of life. I'm gonna stick my neck out and speculate it's because the bad guys have taken to wearing it during home invasion robberies, right?

Or do we not ask those kinds of questions here?

:(

Yes, it would be a bad guy's armor in a home defense scenerio. Wether there is a blue helmet atop the person wearing the armor is irrelevent.
