Hi, I wanted to get some opinions on a 1992 6" SS Cobra, NIB and mint, is this a decent deal for $900, or way too high????
Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Sir William, and thanks for responding. Yes it is a new 1992 King Cobra with box, papers and accessories, never used. I have asked around since yesterday and the opinion is that the price is waaaaaay out of line.

see if you can get the dealer to lower the price to a reasonable one, I have run across that phenomenon before. A store in CO had a NEW sw686 for $485, and another store had a USED sw686 for $550. I told the store with the used revo that his price was in excess of what they were going for new, and inquired if he would lower his price accordingly. He wouldn't, and even offered to order a new one for the same price as the other store, but would not budge on that used gun.

Hi Abelew,

Thanks for writing, I did ask for any "wiggle room" on the price, best he would do is not charge for shipping, pretty funny......

That pirce is far in excess of what is reasonable.

I know that it is a pretty rare firearm. And I also know that they are highly prized among collectors and shooters. That just seems way excessive for somthing that usually goes for about $600-$800. I have yet to see one over about $825.
Of course in the end it is all about how much it is worth to you. Or me, I'd pass it up for another. Anyway, just my $.02.

For $900 you can buy a unused Colt Python and have a few bucks extra for several boxes of ammo.
I hate burst your bubble, but the Colt King Cobra was just an alright gun. Nothing special about it. That is coming from a guy (me) that loves Colts too!
Basically a stainless version of the other Colt revolvers of that size.
It is a large frame.
Go with the Pythton is my advice.
If you collect Colts, try www.gunsamerica.com and check their prices first. :)

here's one:
$599.00 Colt King Cobra Stainless .357 Magnum, 6" Solid-Ribbed Barrel, Black Neoprene Round Butt Colt Pachmayr Grips, White Outline Rear Adjustable sight. All Original. NRA 100% Condition. Sorry, No Box and No Papers. SALE PRICE INCLUDES 2-DAY DELIVERY SHIPPING, HANDLING, INSURANCE, SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, AND TRACKING NUMBER AND NO SALES TAX!!!

The Cobra was/is nothing special-----if they were so good---how come they were discontinued???

The price of a new Smith or Ruger would be a fair price for this gun-----don't pay a cent more.

Thanks again for all the great feedback!! I did NOT purchase the gun for that price, instead I bought two other Colts for slightly less then $900.00 combined! I got a 6" Trooper mark V in bright nickel, and a blued 4" Trooper Mark lll, both in excellent condition. I had considered the Cobra because it was in "new" condition, unfired, with the case, tools and papers intact. I knew the price was high , but I didn't know if there was some special collector value due to the mint condition. Happily, I checked here with all you good people and got the information I needed, mistake averted!

Instead of sinking $900 in that Colt King Cobra, you'd be better off, putting this amount of money towards a Colt "Viper"! Every "Snake collector" needs one!

The good news is, when you bought the Trooper Mark V, you essentially got the King Cobra.

The King Cobra was simply the Trooper Mark V with a full lugged barrel and the KC name.
All parts, (other than the barrel) interchange.

Hi Dfariswheel,

I know, thanks to one of your posts I read that I had indeed, purchased a "cobra" when I got the Trooper Mark V, I was so happy to read that!! Ironically I had tried a couple of used King cobra's at the local gun shop and wasn't happy with their conditions and trigger pulls. I had read about the Trooper mark V and Cobra being virtually the same gun in one of your posts and when I ran across the Trooper and felt how good the trigger broke, I was sold. So, in reality you helped me avoid one gun, and buy what I really wanted at less then half price. Thanks!!
