NH responds to MA

In New Hampshire, we realize that citizens having ready access to guns is beneficial, as national data show that guns are used more often for defensive than offensive purposes. If Mayor Menino were to succeed in preventing guns from crossing state lines, he would effectively disarm many Massachusetts residents, thus making them more vulnerable to criminals. Just because a gun crossed a state line does not mean a criminal carried it over for criminal purposes.

If Boston leaders really want to reduce gun-related crimes in their city, we have a suggestion. Forget the guns; catch and lock up the criminals. The guns aren't going to go out on the streets and shoot by themselves.

Rebar,

Excellent article. It certainly seems that Boston's mayor is using the "Nagin Strategy" of blaming everyone but himself for the rise in Boston's crime rate.

It's the common strategy for all urban liberal democrats to blame everyone but themselves, especially for crime but just about everything bad also.

GOAL is a great organization:
The bottom line is that GOAL warned everyone years ago that gun laws don’t work and arguing for stricter laws only diverts attention from the real problems. Once again we were correct and unfortunately we all have paid the price for it. While certain government officials and anti-civil rights groups were celebrating the 1998 gun laws and distracting people from the real crime solutions, the lawful gun owners have been reduced to second class citizen status, state residents have been overwhelmed by increasing crime, police staffing is being reduced, and Neighborhood Crime Watch was shut down. Hmmm, and people are wondering why there is an increase in violent crime?
