NH Follows Florida's Footsteps (merged)

Remember all the hoopla from both the NRA and the MMM when Florida passed the "No Duty to Retreat" bill in 2004? Well New Hampshire had introduced a similar bill this legislative session, SB318, inspired by the action taken in Florida. After a tough battle, today it just passed the house and now it only needs to be signed by the Gov to be made law. We know the Gov will sign it because his campaign promise was not to be anti gun nor demonstrate anti-gun behavior.

So now Florida isn't the only state with a "no duty to retreat law". NH joins the ranks! Oddly enough....the NRA seems very quiet about this. Unlike all the attention they shined on Florida during the bills life, we received basically no recognition. Very disappointing.

Here is a link to the bill for those who are interested in reading about it.

NH MAKES 2nd Amendment HISTORY - Passes law Against Confiscation of Arms!!!

New Hampshire makes nationwide history today by passing the first bill of its kind in the fight for our 2nd Amendment rights. NH just passed a bill (SB348) today that prohibits the state government from confiscating firearms and ammunition in a state of emergency. We all saw the horror stories in New Orleans, LA last year about how law enforcement officers confiscated firearms. Concerned firearms owners and activists in NH wanted to make sure that such a thing could NEVER happen in NH, which is why this law was drafted, introduced, and passed into law!

The odd thing is, that even though this bill is the first of its kind and is making nationwide, even WORLD history, the NRA was and is mysteriously silent about this. Why isn?t this bill getting the due attention that it deserves? Ask yourselves that question. However, I am informing YOU so that maybe some of YOU will be inspired to follow suit and take similar action in your states. Help take your rights, and your states back from the loss of liberty we have experienced.

Anyone interested in the bills text can check it out, here.

Why the need for this law, it was my understanding the second amendment covered this already..

oh wait "shall not be infringed" means nothing to the gov or the gun grabbers these days.

State infringment of our constitutional rights needs to end, this is a good start.

Good job NH.

Duplicate threads merged.

Idaho's governor signed similar legislation on 03-30-06. Goes into effect on July 1st of this year. Senate Bill 1401. On 04-14, the Gov signed the self defense immunity law S1441a.

Little fanfare here. Congrats NH!

How are two threads about two entirely different bills duplicate threads? I think you are confused and are confusing people.

I wouldn't worry that not much has been said about NH following Florida's lead in the "stand your ground" legislation. It really wasn't the NRA that promoted the attention on Florida's law but rather the gun grabbers that wanted to make a big deal out of it and promote it as the "Gunshine State" for their own political purposes. When it turned out to be a non-event the gun grabbers shut up pretty quickly because they realized their incorrect predictions only gave the NRA more ammunition to point out how ridiculous their antics are.

Quite honestly, I hope Florida follows NH's lead in outlawing illegal weapon confiscations. So far I've not heard of any efforts in that regard and we are pretty much in the same type of peril in terms of natural disasters as NO. We could use the protection of the law.

Perhaps I was confused.

The NRA-ILA has been pushing the state legislatures to pass "Stand Your Ground" or no duty to retreat bills along with protections from confiscations during declared emergencies as a sort of package deal for the last few months.

Several states, including NH have been passing these laws, left and right. That's probably what confused me, LW. I thought you were trying to show support for the "package" that the NRA supported.

My apologies.

i might be wrong but i think i heard florida legislators where workign on a bill so that residents weap could not be taken in a national/state or any kind of emergency.

No problem, when you explain it that way your confussion is understandable. Is there anyway to split the thread back up to its two origonal topics, though?

Blood will run in the streets. It will be like the Old West, with shootouts every day. Hasn't happened the last 463 times it was predicted, but it will this time!
