Next reloading supplies shortage coming?

Do you guys think the next reloading supplies shortage is coming now that there was another shooting and the gun grabber made their statements?

PS: please keep the politics and shooting out of this thread. I'm just trying to find out if I better place a couple orders today.

Isn't everybody's sock drawer already stuffed full of .22LR ammo and boxes of primers?

Powders are making a good comeback. Stocks are building. Primers and brass are much easier to find now. I don't know if everybody wants to build their stash any more.

Handloaders are pretty sensitive right now so we might se a slight shortage, but I don't think this is going to be a panic like we expierenced after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

You can always find a good conspiracy theory to throw money at worst case scenarios. I have a lot of stuff by virtue of enjoying so many calibers, but I have not built a pile of any one thing except 1k rounds 5.56 NATO for my war gun and supplies to reload 1k more. And how long would that last? I can afford only so much, all while avoiding my insurance company knowing more than they need to about a virtual armory.

Pistol powder still seems to be hard to find here in NE Illinois. My typical online source (Powder Valley) has been dry since January. Any other supplier suggestions? I'm looking for HS-6, W231, vN340, Unique HP38....

Powder for 9mm/45ACP/38Spec

This is alarmist and the kind of mindset that causes the shortages.
The "shooting"
The "gun grabber"

Didn't you just put them there?
This thread amounts to nothing but bait.

I asked a simple question. The shooting and Obama’s gun control speech are facts and not "alarmist". If you can't answer a simple question without trying to tell me what I shouldn’t write please do me a favor and stay out this thread.

It is impossible for politics not to come into play in this thread. It is the whole premise of the question. It is not like this question arose out of knowledge of a major company like CCI or Alliant shutting down.

I'd say no need to worry . I think we all know gun control is dead on arrival . How ever executive order seems like a place we might want to keep an eye on . Not sure what the Prez can do but I'm sure he'll try something .

I'm new on this forum but I'll make this observation: For over 30 years I've been hearing one side advocate for gun control and the other going paranoid over it and telling me they are coming for my guns. It isn't going to happen. A new shortage won't happen if we don't play the game and run out and panic buy everything in sight whether we need it or not. So to answer the OP's question: No I don't think there will be another shortage. Remain calm. Be nice to lay people who don't own and don't shoot and don't understand. Educate.

I do not think there will be another run.

I do think there are those that bought a bunch of stuff the last time that they didn't need would like another run so they can sell some of it off and not lose so much money on it.

Statements made by any government official concerning firearms will cause people to evaluate their inventory and their comfort level and if either is low they will react.

I was in Florida once and a tropical storm was approaching. I had been watching it for days because I knew I had to fly there and take care of some business. While I was there it hit. I went to Walmart to get something and I was shocked, the place was full of people buying everything they could grab. I am thinking, "Really, you live here, this happens every year, and you can't plan ahead just a little?"

We live were we live. This happens all the time. Make yourself comfortable. Set that stuff aside, and don't get caught in any panic driven activities. It is simple.

Well I picked up 2lbs of HS-6 today just in case . I've never used it but hear it's good stuff so I bought some just to have . When I look around at what I have I see a huge gap . I have plenty of powder and primers but have very few bullets compared to the other things

No, I don't think another shortage is coming...but we aren't out of the current one yet either ( especially on Hodgdon powders...that was caused by other factors than hoarding )...

Depending on the amount you shoot...just buy supplies to keep you shooting for a year or so ....and quit worrying about it.

Powder Valley had 8lb jugs of HS-6 in stock for a month straight until about a week ago.

I tend to believe the industry. After years of trying, they have broken into the women's market. Shooting is a sport more people enjoy today and the CCW opinion is in, many want one, or the option of one. My wife is not a shooter, doesn't like the noise. She has yet to turn in her CCW paperwork but it and the training have been done for a year. She has recently ASKED to go to the range and shoot her safe queen Glock. I believe demand at least as much as hoarding has led to the shortages. When I take a non-shooter to the range, the ammo price appears to not be part of the equation and once started 300 rounds are gone in no time. That adds up.

That said, I bought three cases of shotgun shells Friday. I do not load shotgun. They were cheaper than gunbot so I stocked up. The guy with me bought two cases. I am stocked better than I have ever been but I also shoot more than I have in years.

Buy early, buy often. I am happy I can afford to support the industry.

A lot of reloaders keep fairly generous stocks of components on hands just by buying things they use when they see them available at good prices. I keep a few bucks back for that purpose, and it is pretty painless to accumulate stores of supplies that will see you through short-term shortages.

The same things are being said over and over by both sides and few if any minds are changing. Any shortages that develop will likely be short term, and are far more likely to be due to panic buying and hoarding than by any actual change in the law. Plus, no matter what your politics may be, you have to realize that Washington is so paralyzed right now that they can't even manage routine business matters, so they are highly unlikely to enact any legislation that touches on controversy.
