next carry gun

I'm trying to decide on my next carry gun. I've had a carry gun in just about every size in the past and settled on a glock 19. But recently I was recently offered a NAA .22lr revolver for $50 and figured why not buy it, if I hate it I'll sell it for double or triple what I payed. Well it has been very nice having a small gun to carry. I am becoming more involved with the children's ministry at my church and a smaller gun is nice in those situations, but a capable gun is required IMO. I'm also not able to conceal my 19 when I have to wear my shirt tucked in(about 4-6 weeks out of the year for work).

Money was tight when I decided to sell all my smaller carry guns and opt for sticking with the 19. Now that I am out of college and have a real job I can afford another carry gun.

I am at a toss up between the S&W shield, Ruger LCP custom, glock 42 and possibly 43.

I have shot all of these guns and prefer the shield but the lcp custom is a great shooting gun for being a 380. but so is the 42...

Price points me to the lcp, preference points me to the shield. I'm not sure which would be the most practical for me. The correct answer would be both... but the wife wouldn't be to big of a fan of that...

whats yall's thoughts?

How do you carry the G19? I ask because, in the right IWB holster, a G19 can be concealed and the shirt tucked in as easily as a Shield. If we are talking pocket carry, I would say go with the LCP.

I carry a Gen 4 Glock 19, all the time! TruGlo night sights.

In case I need lots of rounds, I got em!

I carry at 3:00 in and aliengear IWB cloak 2.0 holster, but haven't been able to conceal it well at all when I have to tuck my shirt in.

That's why I carry mine! I love it and it will continue to be my every day go to, just looking for something to supplement it!

I like the LC9s. It comes with a 7 round mag but can get a 10 round too.

It's smaller than the 19 by quite a bit. It's a little smaller than the 43.

I really liked the Glock 43 too. It had a hard time choosing.

I like the LC9s because I like having a gun with thumb safety. Something like a Glock 43, while equally capable, doesn't strike me as particularly safe especially during re-holstering without a positive action safety.

The Sig 938 is nice option too, but I don't like the ambi safety they insist on including. It hits the knuckle of my right hand. Supposedly the right-side lever can be removed.

I shot a SCCY CPX-1 twice last week. It was owned by a young man I happened to run into twice 2 days apart at a local outdoor range. He had purchased it new recently and had not shot a lot of rounds through it.

The sights were reasonable. The DAO trigger was tolerable, not great but not bad for an inexpensive pistol. It was one of the loudest 9mm Luger-chambered pistols I have heard in a while.

This particular pistol on the second occasion was having frequent failures to extract. The extractor claw looked OK. Ammunition was factory new 115gr FMJ.

smaller-Lighter

I've had the same problem. The combined features of the Glock 42,100% dependability, and shootability won me over handily.Best of luck,Skeets.

I prefer to not have a safety on a carry gun.

Also never cared much for the lc9s

Not that it matters since you don't like the guy but the LC9s pro comes without a safety in case that's the reason you don't like it.

The Glocks 42 and 43 are pretty sweet. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have several of the guns mentioned including the LCP , KelTec P3AT, KelTec PF9, 9mm Shield as well as custom S&W 442 . The gun I take with me most is a .22 magnum Pug . Not as powerul as I might like but does fulfill the first rule of a gunfight .
