How About A "Shot And A Gun?"
Posted: Feb 24, 2008 02:35 PM

Ever wonder what goes on during the Virginia General Assembly in Richmond?

Among other things the House of Delegates this week passed legislation that could lead to more concealed handguns in restaurants and bars.

The law would allow people to enter the establishments with a concealed weapon.

Al Devane is the security manager at Baxter's in Norfolk. "It almost sounds reminiscent of the wild west back when you went into the saloon and let the bar owner know you had a weapon on you."

There are some "catches". The gun carrier must inform an employee of the bar or restaurant that they are concealing a weapon and they cannot consume alcohol.

Ben shelton likes the idea. "When I drink the gun stays at home...When I carry it the drinks stay at home."

Governor Kaine will review the details of the bill before deciding whether to wield his veto power or not.

I will be making my disgust known to news desk chief at WTKR in short order...

I just took the time to send an email to a reporter at a P.A. news outlet that had an online article about the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus.

Reading the article I honestly could not tell if the reporter was pro or anti gun. So I congratulated the man for his integrity. That's the way news should be. Impartial reporting of facts. That has become rare that we tend to notice it, and that is sad.
