News on the Italian 1911?

I'm interested in the Valpro? Val..something Italian 1911 that should be out by now. Early reports looked good. I'd like some more info. Thanks, Gary

Hello. I've not seen one "in the flesh", but reports are that they are excellent guns. The company, Valtro, reportedly has the goal "to do to Kimber what Kimber did to Colt." A fellow named Jardine, a nephew to the late Armand Swenson, is in charge of the building the pistols. I am told that they are quality pistols.

One of the local ranges has a Valtro available for rent. It looks very pretty, but I haven't had the chance to shoot one or even hold one yet.

I think they are to cost about $1200.
