At one time, any hardware store that ordered as few as 10 guns could have their name put on them. I have a list of the Crescent guns (probably not complete) and Newport is not on it.
I agree with Goatwhiskers. Unless there is something unusual about that gun, it has little value and is not worth wasting time on. I don't know what is wrong with it, but as a rule those old guns have a multitude of problems and repairs, even if possible, will cost many times what the gun could ever be worth. Give it an honorable retirement, on display over the fireplace.
