Newest revolver is waiting for me to pick it up...

My 2" Model 30 is at the gunshop...

Getting it tomorrow.

I can't wait.

On the way home I think I'll be stopping at the NRA range for some function firing...

I posted the pic from the guy's auction site when I won the auction 2 weeks ago, but it wasn't very clear and contrast wasn't good.

I'll have a variety of photos of it up, including pix with its great-grandfather, my 4" Regulation Police from 1917.

Mike: What is a Model 30? I am pretty good with the S&W's that are in current production or which are from the past 20 years, but I don't think I ever ran into a Model 30.:D

Well, I can now answer my own question. I saw a Model 30 this afternoon in a local gunshop. .32 S&W Long. the one I saw had a 3" barrel. It was priced at $129, but it had really been abused and neglected. It seemed tight, but it had a good bit of rust on it, and the hammer had been butchered. Neat gun, however. I look forward to hearing how yours shoots, Mike.

You know, Mike, I get the feeling that you are one of the few people who is seriously hampered by your state's BS "one gun per month law."

Which brings up an interesting question. What's the largest number of guns you have purchased in one day? Not counting dealers. When I had an FFL I went to an auction once and bought 129 guns. Sold or gave away all but two of them. I mean for personal use. I think my record is four pistols in about an hour at a show. Bought three once or twice, but my high is four.

Early 30s were I frame. Later ones are the larger J frame.
1917 would make his new one an I frame. Sweet little critters.

Clemson,

A Model 30 is chambered for .32 S&W Long.

The Model 30 was round butt, the Model 31 square butt.

Saxon,

For personal use? Four. Went to an auction.

Sam,

The Model 30 I recently bought is a new (relatively) production gun.

The Regulation Police is one I've had since 1989.

In fact, it was my first Smith & Wesson revolver.

I was SUPPOSED to leave work early today to pick it up. I hate my coworkers. By the time I actually got out of there, nearly 2 hours after I was supposed to leave, traffic was WAY too bad.

We had an "all hands" meeting for our contract today, at which they passed out baseball bats to some people who marshalled some really difficult stuff through in the past several months.

About 4 p.m. I was REALLY REALLY glad that I didn't gone one of those bats. I would have used it on some skulls.

Must be turning into a sheeple.
Don't read.
When do read, don't think.

From the preceeding, thought Mike was pickin up a 1917....reread and already had it.

I knew that.
But it didn't stick.

Sam...You can't confuse me, I beat you to it.
