Newby w/ Question

Howdy.
New to site. Have been a long time gun owner and site lurker. Finally decided to sign up because I have a question that has been on my mind.

Few years back I inherited a Jennings 380 & FIE 380. Have shot both. They shoot. Not the greatest but they do work & are in good condition. Have read posts putting both guns down.

The thought of trashing them seems extreme. I see these 2 guns as a part of hand gun history even though they have a bad reputation.

Would anyone have a problem keeping so called bad guns just for the sake of owning them?

Any responses will be appreciated. Thank you.

My first pocket gun was an RG-14 .22 revolver. Junk. I still have it after 35 years and take it to the range every now and then. Nostalgia you know. Wouldn't think of carrying it now nor getting rid of it.

Welcome to the forum.

No - unlike horses, guns don't have to be fed, and therefore can be kept at little or no cost.

No problem.

The FIE, I think might be a Tanfolglio made -- nontrivial chance it's not junk.

Nice collector pieces

Why trash good old guns, just keep them, maybe shoot a few rounds off every now and then, and remember the nice person you inherited them from :D

Enjoy

Here's my thought...If you want to keep them for sentimental value, if nothing else, then keep them and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

If the guns having meaning to you. KEEP THEM. I just wouldnt use them for home defense, or carry. I have several "junk" guns that I refuse to part with.

Keep them just for the sake of sentimental value. FIE I'm pretty sure is just an importer and not the gun model, you may have something other than a Saturday night special with that one.

They may work fine for you now, but remember, those makes have the stigma and rep they do for a reason. You'll never change that.

The practical reason to keep them is that no gun shop will give you anything significant for them. Perhaps a box of ammo.

'course not. Heirlooms are heirlooms; it's the people that they bring to mind that count.

You could shoot them a bit, occasionally, enjoy the memories, and then use your more durable guns for everyday shooting. There's no problem with that at all.
