newbie with questions on an 870 Express

:D Hey guys- newbie here -just registered on the forum...long time gun nut though.
I just picked up a Remington Express 870 with the synth stocks and the +2 extension with the matte black finish. Price was good and I can always use another gun. Having only an 870 Police Magnum previously, what can I expect from the Express? I understand there are MIM and plastic (?) parts on it and it's more 'cheaply' made...anything to be concerned with about it? This one won't be seeing any hard core life-saving covert tactical ops use, but just used for putting holes in cardboard and exploding watermelons and as a back up when the zombies come.
 
you'd have to shoot the holy hell out of that piece to break a part.

A little less refined and less polished. May have to do some chamber polishing if you get stuck shells.

Other than that, shoot it til something breaks............we won't wait up for you..........
 
A fine choice in shotguns. Be sure to clean the factory preservative/oil/grease crap out of it and as stated polish the chamber.

nothing to really ad, just reinforcing what's been said. I have an 870 express myself, and it's a tough gun. polish the chamber --- it's a good thing :)
 
like everybody else said shoot it and shoot it alot.

also, they can work good as a boat paddle if need be. :)
 
I just got mine- mmmmmmmmm......flat black. The receiver doesn't have 'Express' stamped on it after the 870 like all the others I've seen.

Having never even really handled remingtons much I am no expert... But from what I have seen in conversation on various forums, they seem to vary widely on their stampings of nomenclature and features...
But I bet if it were a wingmaster, it would surely say so...:D

Yep, they stopped stamping Express on the receiver sometime recently. Most recent ones I've seen, including the one I just sold last week, just say "Remington 870". They've dropped "Express" and "Magnum". I'm not sure what current production Wingmasters say on them.
