hi everyone - this is my first post - soon to be first time gun owner - i've done a lot of reading and found a gun today that i like and want opinions on whether or not it's a good deal:

used sig sauer p228 - SIGLITE Night Sights plus 2 hi cap 13 clips

price: $563

it was a demo model before hitting the showroom and looks to be in great shape. i was thinking about ruger p89 and hs 2000 before i came across this baby.

should i buy it - it is very nice in my hands and i would think a much better gun than the others in the range i used to be in ($300-400).

thanks everyone!!!

Looks like some of the CDNN Investment demos are hitting the shelves. Price from CDNN on the demo guns is $479.99 for two tone and $449.99 for blued with 2 13 rounders and 1 10 rounder. No mention of the SigLite front sight on these though. The SigLite front sight is $59 new from Sig so the dealer has a small markup there. He has to eat too.

A big plus is that you can actually see what you are buying instead of buying blind from CDNN. Believe me, sometimes on those CDNN demos and such you can take it in the shorts buying sight unseen.

Considering your other choices I would get the Sig.

The SIG 228 is one of the finest handguns made..and that's not a bad price with 2 hicaps and night sights (around here that's a downright bargain !!). It's a modern classic ....

I had a SigSauer P228 for quite a while. It is the only handgun I never found some way to cause to malfunction (e.g. intentional limp-wristing, filth, odd types of ammo, etc.). Accuracy was good too. Really the only things I didn't care for were the double-action trigger, which was kind of heavy, and the overall "feel" didn't suit me for some reason. That aside, I definitely recommend it.

My wife got the same gun (228, nightsights, 2 13 round mags) for $500 a few years ago. The gun was a police model with some holster wear, but in good shape otherwise. I saw the same deal later on but with a Sig factory refurbished gun. This was in Phoenix.

Take it from this ole' Sig expert; that's
a damn good deal. Get it while you can, as
I expect a huge price increase on all firearms,
due to the worldly event's of Sept. 11th.

I have a 228 myself. Although not my most accurate 9mm, it is combat accurate and I have yet to have any type of failure with the darned gun.

I have yet to tailor a load for it, but at 50 feet I can only get accuracy of 2-3 inches with 13 shot groups. Plenty good enough for its intended purpose.

I would get that Sig if I were you.

You obviously have discriminating tastes, my friend. Welcome to TFL. :D

It's pretty good deal, I'd take it.

228 is my daily carry gun: accurate, ergonomic, and highly reliable (even more so than my Glocks). Recoil is forgiving, too.

The only things I've needed to get used to are the high bore axis and DA trigger. Just takes practice, though.

i bought it!!!

to everyone who helped - thank you - today i went in and bought it. i am very excited to take it home when the paperwork goes through.

i definitely spent more than i wanted to (isn't that how it usually works) but cannot believe what a sweet gun it is.

now i gotta get a holster, cleaning kit, bullets, etc...i can't wait.

thanks again and hopefully you'll all bear with me as i ask questions...
