OK I am hooked on guns and this site! I just bought a Walther P22 a week ago and love it. But as I was at the range the other day I remembered the revolver I rented last and how much fun that was too. Now I am looking at the Ruger GP 100. Now thats a sweet gun. I am looking for something in the 4" range and would like to hear from other GP 100 owners and hear what they think. Does fixed sights matter or should I save for the adjustable ones?

A Ruger will last a life time. Excellent choice for first purchase!

Fixed or Adjustable ? Personally I've never had to do much adjusting to my sities for target shooting. I guess it depends on what your trying to accomplish.

Unless your stuck on the 4", I believe they make it in a 3" which I like better for a multi-purpose handgun. Long enough to be accurate, short enough to carry etc...

I have both a 6" GP100 Stainless w/ adjustable rear and removeable front sights and a 3" blued GP100 w/ fixed rear and front for carry. Very accurate and takes recoil from .357s real nice.

You cannot do better than a Ruger GP100 series for an all-purpose, first revolver. I would opt for the KGP-141: four inch, stainless, full underlug, and adjustable rear sight model. With respect to 41Special, I would not select a three-inch GP100, since: (a) they do not have a rear sight (grove in top strap); (b) they are not much easier to conceal than the four inch; (c) they provide reduced sight radius and muzzle velocity; and (d) for a WIDE range of applications (target work, plinking, small game hunting, and home- and personal-defense), the four inch seems to be the optimally sized.

Well,

The stainless looks cleaner, and dosent show wear as much.

The blue will show wear and shows fingerprints, but the blue I personally like better due to it's 'classic' look.

I believe Ruger also makes a target grey that might be nice.

I say it's all personal preference.

I don't think you could really weigh the pro's and con's too too much.

Which one do you like better ?
