Newbie needs some advise

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did a quick search, but being fairly new to guns and gun terminology I wasn't quite sure what to search on. Anyway, the problem I am having is with an air cartridge revolver which, I believe, is mechanically very similar to it's combustion using cousins (please correct me if I'm wrong). As the cylinder revolves firing double action, one chamber seems to "stick". When trying to cock the hammer for single action, the hammer won't go back more than a few millimetres before stopping and refusing to cock. My apologies if this is a bit vague, but as I say, I'm quite new to all this! Is there anything obvious I can check before taking it for repair?
Thanks

I can post some pic's of the mechanism tomorrow if you feel this would be of any help.

Unless its purely mechanical in the hand/pawl (the part that actually pushes the cylinder around) or on the "star" (the part that the hand pushes up against) wich might be indicated by a rough burr or some foreign material in there...also, try spinning the cylinder alone, maybe the rod that holds it in is bent or out of alignment, might just look at the parts for some wear marks that don't look right. On a firearm, there are other possible causes...high primers...hitting the forcing cone...

Thanks

Sgt127,

Thank you for your prompt reply, I can't see anything too obviously wrong, though I'll have a better look this evening when I have more time.

On a side note, does anyone else here shoot air cartridge revolvers? I'm fairly new to it any tips/ advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
