Newbie M1A Owner: How did I do?

I finally saw what I thought was a good deal on an M1A, so I picked it up today. It is used, probably 98% condition. It is the "loaded" Springfield Armory version with walnut stock and stainless barrel. Of course, the $1000 of coupons are long gone. No box, owners manual, etc. It came with a new leather sling and a 20rd mag. I paid $1200. Was this a reasonable price? Any tips or advice for a rookie on cleaning, ammo, etc.? Thanks for your input.
 
ctl, I think that you did good on the price if she is really pristine. Pick up some more GI mags while you can. Congratulations!!!!
