if not whats the difference.

if i dont have a license to carry what cant i do with my weapon?
if i do have a license to carry what can i do with my weapon?

if someone is breaking into my house, but doesnt threaten me, do i have a right to fire?

thats all for now im sure i will have alot of questions later. thanks in advance.

den9,

Every one of your questions have state specific answers, except the first one. I think it's universally the same. Still, check the laws in your state.

I believe both terms are interchangeable. BTW, you must be 21 to get a permit in Pennsylvania. The city of Philadelphia police department handles CCW permits, everywhere else is handled by the county sheriff. http://www.packing.org/state/pennsylvania/

If I don't have a license to carry what can't I do with my weapon?
Until you are 21, I don't know if you can possess one. Need to check local laws more closely.

Again, read the Pennsylvania page on www.packing.org and that should answer most of your questions.

im not asking if i can carry, i know i cant, yet.
i went to packing.com or whatever but i couldnt find specific answers. all i really wanna know is their a difference between carrying and concealed weapon.
example, can i carry a loaded gun holstered in plain view and have a permit to carry, not ccw?

i try real hard to read them laws, i read them over and over again but its so hard to understand, its confusing, i wish they would put it in plain english. thats why i came here to understand more clearly, i been wondering for quite awhile but no one had any clear answers.

That depends on your state laws.

In Georgia, I can carry openly (not concealed) with no license whatsoever.

If I want to conceal, I need to have a "firearms license".

But in New York State, I cannot own a pistol without a NYS "pistol permit". There, it's a license to own, but it allows you to carry concealed.

All of your questions are specific to the state in which you live.

Some states forbid open carry altogether.

Pa appears to be one of these states.

From packing.org:
(a) Offense defined.--Any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.
