newb to the gun world

Hi all, another newb to the gun world here. However - I guess I decided to hit the scene in style.

Decided last year on a whim to pick up a gun. I grew up with them around the house, there was a 30-40 that a family member had used in WWI, and my father carried his garand and did some long range shooting in Korea, and was an avid all-season hunter. However I guess he never quite got around to teaching me about them before he passed away from cancer. so I knew about them, but never actually used one.

The other day I looked back on the last year and dang if the gun bug hasn't bitten me bad.

Started out last spring with a basic fleet-farm special 10/22 carbine to punch some paper, something cheap to see if I liked it. Well, that sure didn't last long. (and neither did the bank account)

By summer I had fallen in love with the 1911's, and had placed a SR1911 on order (waited 8 months to get it) By fall a Mossberg shotgun had also joined the stable. Lately, I wondered what happened to the bank account - apparently this spring I went a little nuts... A buckmark hunter, ruger charger, and a full reloading kit (Lyman single stage and dillon SDB) had also joined the stable. For my birthday a few weeks ago I decided to get a .30 cal hunting rifle. Settled on a savage hunter in .308. But the best of all was my wife had noticed me "prepping for the apocalypse" as she put it, and her and the kids pitched in and presented me with a 6" stainless GP100!

Suddenly I find myself looking for a gun cabinet or safe (there's no more room under the spare bed) And I was wondering why I seemed a bit down on cash these days... lol.

Found the forum through other links and looking forward to gleaning everything I can out of it!
