New York Rant

This was my reply to a police article about stopping someone back in 1992 for having a concealed weapon that turned out to only be a "large pager." The suspect filed a complaint, but the case was dismissed for lack of witnesses or evidence.

<ranting> From what I can tell, New York has no
provisions in their Constitution for the right to bear
arms. Of course, I can see why since if the Indians
rejected the offer of the $24 of beads for Manhattan, you
could just blow them away.

Of course, the Second Amendment of our Constitution
states that the people have that right and "shall not
be infringed," unless of course, you live in New York
where they just piss all over it.

Let's make this easy, if a man has the right to life,
then he also has a right to defend that life. End of
story.

It's you totalitarian people that make me sick. You
believe that no one has the right to life and that people
should just practice marching into the gas chamber. It's
people like you that support Adolph Hitler, Pol Pot, Bill
Clinton, Joseph Stalin, and the
always-pistol-packing-but-don't-want-you-to Diane
Fienstein.

Why are you going to trust politicians with nuclear
warheads when they don't even trust you with a firearm?
It's people like you that are herded away to the
slaughter like sheep, while I'd rather die in a low
budget remake of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising! At least, I
would die fighting for a worthy cause. It's called
freedom. Look it up in the dictionary.

<end of rant>

I liked that part about trusting them with warheads when they don't want you to have a gun! I think I'll put that in my list of things I like to say.

New York State
Civil Rights Law
Article 2: Bill Of Rights
Section 4: Right to keep and bear arms. A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed.

Unfortunately, the provision in NY Civil Rights Law has never been given significant effect by the courts, and no gun control law has ever been overturned because of it, as far as I can tell.
