New York Bill A08992 confiscates 50BMG

"50-CALIBER SNIPER WEAPON" MEANS A RIFLE CAPABLE OF FIRING A CENTER-FIRE CARTRIDGE IN 50-CALIBER, .50BMG CALIBER, ANY OTHER VARIANT OF 50-CALIBER, OR ANY OTHER METRIC EQUIVALENT OF SUCH CALIBER.

They're not even limiting themselves to the BMG! Glad I'm still living in the free world.

Damn I have to hide my .50cal Black Powerder Muzzel loader now :(

I wonder if it's not time to take a cue from our Canadian friends and just simply not comply enmasse. I hope and pray the Mr. Bush's administration rights some of these wrongs and sets the general tone for the country. It seems conservative values are being attacked on every front, not just the second ammendment(but curiously that one seems to be one of their priorities). Peaceful civil disobedience is a powerful tool. On the other hand it is possible to get rid of every anti-gun politician in two election cycles if we would just vote, we have the numbers to do that.

Since we have the numbers and don't, I wonder if all of us havn't to some extent been infected by the liberal left agenda. There is something appealing about having government "take care of you". Curiously people can prefer slavery to freedom, after all freedom takes work too, perhaps a much harder work than slavery. I know I have to make a conscious effort to resist that sippery slope of the liberal left. Why is it that the wrong comes so easy and the right so hard?--at least for me anyway.

50 cal

Guy's, what do you expect from a state that will elect Hilllllllll......aw' I just can't say it.
Pick up your lives, and move!!!
Get out while there's a good economy, and find a new state, this one is DEAD MEAT..............
We welcome ALL calibers to Texas.............
The more the merrier, you are invited........
Now 2nd most populous, because NY is dying, everyone but libs, and welfare cases are leaving in the droves.
No disrespect intended, but the writing is on ya'lls wall.........

Left 5 years ago.

The county I live in in Pa. voted for Gore by 1000 votes. More hunters and gun owners than you can count.:( If I could sell the house I would. Texas is no good for me because of the heat. Health problems.

Lawdog

YES! I hope so, if they start VOTING on things and dont want their name on a "list", then what the hell are they letting US that we are required by law to be on a "List".

If they vote and dont want their names on a list for that vote, then they are committing a trully vial, treasonous act, that they want to hide. (are they affraid of something?? indeed)

They (gov'o'ment officals) are directly accountable to the people, who elected them though they seem not care about this. Nor do they care, or seem to even know, what their oath means!

Tshoes,

It (hillahoe) is moving out of the state now that she won the senate position, wonder if that is grounds to have her booted out??? Nothing like setting a temp residency, and then moving out as soon as you get what you want :) Maybe people in NYK will finally see their mistake, and demand that she be removed!!! That is well with-in their rights, those who givith, cant take it away too!

From the way it looks to me, the last action taken on this bill was in March of last year. Is this correct?

When I see things like this, I begin to think we are all screwed. Very few gunowners have a .50BMG. Too few gunowners stand up for their rights anyway. Does anyone believe that very many of them will raise much of a fuss when they're taking away something virtually no one has? Call me cynical, call me negative, or anything else, but ultimately, I think banning such things is very likely due to lack of resistance. Even if everyone who has a .50BMG refuses to give it up, there will be so few to go after, it won't matter. They can't ban all guns now, there would be such an uprising (millions), that it wouldn't work. They've got to ban things one at a time, so there won't be enough resistance to stop them. First 50 cals, then evil assault rifles, then big handguns, then small ones, then centerfire rifles, then rimfires, then airguns, then slingshots, then stick and stones.

DAMNIT, IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP. THERE'S PLENTY OF YOU OUT THERE WHO ONLY HAVE "HUNTING" RIFLES AND SUCH WHO DON'T CARE BECAUSE THEY'RE ONLY AFTER YOUR NEIGHBOR'S $1000 RIFLE THAT IS SCARY LOOKING AND LABELED AS AN "ASSAULT WEAPON". YOU DON'T CARE, YOU DON'T HAVE ONE THEY CAN TAKE. YOU MAY EVEN WONDER WHY YOUR NEIGHBOR "NEEDS" ONE. WELL, PLENTY OF PEOPLE WONDER WHY YOU "NEED" WHAT YOU HAVE AND DON'T CARE IF YOU LOSE YOUR POSSESIONS. IT'S TIME TO SAY NO MORE. AND TO HELL WITH THIS NEW IDEA OF "ENFORCING THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS" THAT IS SO POPULAR. IT'S TIME TO GET RID OF SOME OF THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL "LAWS ON THE BOOKS".

Don't worry, everyone.

New York doesn't have a monopoly on stupidity and disarmament. IIRC, there's a similar bill in the U.S. congress.
