Picked up my nwe XD today. Other that the "Made in Croatia" it is very pleaseing. Seems excellent in form,fit, and function. Put several mags of 230g.FMJ thru it for a breakin.No malfunctions. Mag release is very stiff.Very accurate at 30 ft.Recoil is noticible but is different than my 1911, more stright back that muzzel lift. The trigger takes getting used to but is light with a lot of creep and a sharp letoff.Feels great in my hand and the 9 round mag is my favorite. I'm not a big fan of the belt slide holster that came with the gun, it's floppy. I need something to hold it in to my body. Price was under MSRP by a bit.Just my thoughts.Any one have one they want to comment about?
 
Good choice. That must be some firm recoil!.

I have the 5" 45 Auto. I like it a lot.....might have to tune the trigger.

The mag release will ease and the trigger gets better and better.

Yea, you need a better holster...for what?
 
Personally the XDM is my favorite handgun line of all time. they are a pretty decent improvement over the XD. the Mod2s improve ergonomics over the old style, some people have issues with the "grip zone", I don't, I just think it looks stupid. made in croatia is only a problem for people that have never looked at a map or taken a look at the economic, political, or industrial status of south eastern europe. the same guys that like to bash the XD because they are made in croatia are apparently not aware that Croatia remained financially stable throughout the greek economic crisis while places like austria and belgium( home of FN Herstal and Glock) saw serious economic and industrial issues.

In my experience, if you sit there dry firing it slowly, you'll feel 4 distinct stages, and maybe thing the trigger's crap. But when I'm actually shooting it, I feel it as a nice crisp click.

The freebie isn't too useful. They have a plastic paddle holster in the same style, that's actually more useful. But, plenty of holstermakers support the XD.

I was thinking of getting one. But, right now, I think my next (and possibly last) .45 will be a RIA 1911 or an XDS. Different approaches to usefulness.

The regular XD-s, including the subcompact, are just a bit too heavy for me to want to carry with any regularity.
 
I've owned a mod2 XD .45acp for a couple of months and I like it a lot. Its had probably 200 rnds of hardball through it with perfect function. The sights are excellent and it shoots to point of aim. I think the trigger is smooth and excellent but that is a personal opinion for sure. My only criticism is that the frame/slide profile is so tall; but that is a characteristic of the whole XD line. I also own a Glock 30s and a Kahr in .45acp. The mod2 is probably my favorite but the others are very nice too.
 
Thanks for the input. I really like it . Yes,sharp recoil, different from a 1911. I'm looking for smoe leather to carryit..any suggestions.
 
Thanks for the in put.I like to carry concealed. Cross draw when I'm going to be in the vehicle for awhile and strong side at other times. This little guy beats lugging my 1911 or 5906 around, just need some leather.
