New wood for my 243

This 80's model Remington 700BDL has always been a favorite of mine. I thought some new wood would be a good idea. Stocky's thumb-hole was a great choice and it would have dropped right in if not for the Jewell trigger. Of course I'm not replacing the Jewell so with a little inletting it fit great. It's a heavy rifle and in 243 recoil is just a little push. That's the original Redfield Widefield 4-12x from when Redfield was right up there with Leupold in quality.

I love thumbholes they hold and shoot so naturally, even walking/stalking I just lay my thumb along side the hole up near the saftey and that works fine even to shoot it that way. I made up one on a Interarms Mark X action with a Douglas barrel and a Fajen TH in fiddle back maple in 270Win, with a Redfield Widefield 2x7, great shooter. Great cartridge, injoy!!! Your Redfield looks just like my 6x18, great scopes from back then, never had a problem with them, I used mine on a 257AI, but now it is going on a Vanquard 257WM for paper and yotes.

very nicely done. I even love the leather bench pillows. Seeing this rifle, your walk in humidor and poker table makes me wish I could see the whole place, especially your safe.
